Micromax released the official Lollipop ROM for Unite 2 few months back which we had shared in one of our previous posts. It was expected that the upgrade would be made available via OTA to all the users however due to few issues it could not have been made available in time. Yesterday, Micromax released the OTA update for unite 2 users and now users can update their device directly from their system settings.

Micromax Unite 2 A106 OTA Lollipop update

We had already shared the official Lollipop ROM that was launched by Micromax for unite 2 in March 2015 and to be frank not everyone is comfortable in flashing the ROM manually. Flashing a ROM manually wipes the data present on the device however this is not the same with OTA upgrade. If you’re following the manual method, do take a proper backup of your device to avoid any data loss.

The OTA update is available for both the variants – 4GB and 8GB unite 2 models. Our personal suggestion for 4GB variant user would be not to try upgrading their device to Lollipop as the internal storage is found to be comparatively less as compared to Kitkat OS and you won’t be able to do anything in this apart from rooting your phone.

Unite 2 is one of the best selling devices by Micromax, in spite of the launch of Android One by Micromax within the similar range unite 2 didn’t see any major changes in terms of its sales.

To update unite 2 with FOTA follow the below simple steps:

  1. The notification about the update might be present under notifications, click on the same to proceed.
  2. If the notification doesn’t appear go to settings–>About Phone and tap on System updates.
  3. Search for the update and once the update instructions are available, tap on start update.

**If the OTA update doesn’t appear under system settings reboot your phone once and try again.

To avoid update failure make sure you have a good network connection or WiFi.

Do share your experience with your device after upgrading your device so that other people can make up their mind whether they should update their device or not. Also, users can check about the availability of future upgrades for their devices under our site’s OS upgrade section.
